Here's how to depict an piece of cake rainbow, and then make full the foreground and background with lots of pretty flowers and butterflies.
Rainbows really contain upwards of i 1000000 colors, but the limitations of our eyes pretty much turn them into seven curved bands that all softly blend from i to the adjacent. For those that are just learning how to draw though, making those bands as fifty-fifty as possible, and and so filling them in the right color order, are enough to practice for one lesson.
Rather than draw the unabridged rainbow, this tutorial will evidence students how to depict well-nigh iii/4 of i. The closer view means those bands tin can exist just a bit wider, which is always helps when drawing them. Plus, the slightly off-center composition creates a little more than interesting look than if everything was but centered on the page.

RECOMMENDED MATERIALS
- Eraser. Large ones you can hold in your hand practise a much ameliorate job than merely the pencil tips.
- Black Sharpie Mark. These fine point permanent marker pens make squeamish black outlines, have a skilful tip for coloring, and never bleed when they go wet. Apply them with good ventilation and add extra newspaper underneath to protect your tables.
- Prang Crayons. These are a bit softer than other crayons so they sometimes look like oil pastels. They also take a some prissy brown shades that Crayola does non have unless you buy their larger boxes.
- Crayola Crayons. The reliable brand that ever works well. The 24 pack has some of my favorite golden orangish and xanthous colors that seem a bit richer and warmer than the ones Prang has.
